Pfizer Grabs $70B U.S. Investment Deal With Three-Year Tariff Exemption

1. Pfizer Secures Tariff Exemption and $70B Investment
Pfizer reached a deal to invest $70 billion in U.S. research, development and domestic manufacturing, coupled with a three-year grace period exempting its branded drugs from proposed 100% tariffs. The commitment supports expansion of the TrumpRx.gov pricing platform and accelerates U.S. production capacity to mitigate potential supply-chain risks.
2. Dr. Aida Habtezion Joins Bio Usawa Board
Dr. Aida Habtezion, former Chief Medical Officer at Pfizer, has been appointed to the board of Bio Usawa, a biotech firm focused on establishing sustainable biologics manufacturing in Africa. Her clinical and regulatory experience is expected to guide the company’s efforts to broaden access to complex medicines across emerging markets.
