U.S. jury finds Quectel infringed Philips patent
Aug. 27 (Reuters) - Chinese tech company Quectel 603236.SS owes Philips PHG.AS $3 million for infringing a patent related to 3G and 4G wireless technology, a jury in Delaware federal court said on Thursday.
The jury said in a separate verdict on Wednesday that Quectel's cellular communication modules, which are used in a range of internet-of-things enabled products, infringe one of two Philips patents at issue.
The jury determined Thursday that Quectel's infringement was also willful, which could lead to a judge multiplying the award by up to three times.
Spokespeople for the companies did not immediately respond to requests for comment on the verdict.
