Spot gold prices reached a record $5,042 per ounce, with February futures trading at $5,036. Central bank purchases averaged 60 tonnes monthly versus 17 pre-2022 while ETF holdings added 500 tonnes year-to-date and Goldman Sachs lifted its December 2026 forecast to $5,400 from $4,900.
