Pony AI achieved unit economics breakeven in Guangzhou and Shenzhen, proving its robotaxi technology profitable at scale. The company has grown its fleet to 1,400 units and targets over 3,000 by end-2026, expanding into 20 cities and deploying 2,000 Toyota BZ4X Gen7 vehicles via joint funding to triple robotaxi revenue.

1. Profitability Milestones

Pony AI has achieved unit economics breakeven in both Guangzhou and Shenzhen by focusing on service value rather than discounting, demonstrating that its autonomous driving platform can be profitable at scale. This milestone validates regulatory coordination in China and underpins plans for further expansion.

2. Fleet Growth and Targets

The company’s robotaxi fleet has expanded to over 1,400 units and it plans to scale to more than 3,000 by the end of 2026. Production is centered on the Toyota BZ4X Gen7, with more than 2,000 of these vehicles slated for deployment next year.

3. Global 20-City Expansion

Pony AI aims to launch services in 20 cities this year, with nearly half of those markets outside China, including locations in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Deployments have already begun in Zagreb, Doha, Dubai and Singapore, leveraging the company’s world model to adapt to diverse traffic conditions.

4. Joint Deployment and Partner Funding

Under the joint deployment model, partners fund vehicle capex in exchange for a share of revenue or AI driver licensing fees, improving capital efficiency. Toyota leads this initiative, and the model is expected to deliver nearly half of new vehicles and help the company triple robotaxi revenue in 2026.
