Pony.ai Integrates Robotaxis into WeChat, Fleet to Exceed 3,000 Units by 2026
Pony.ai has integrated its Guangzhou robotaxi service into Tencent’s WeChat Mobility Services portal, enabling users to book fully driverless rides within designated areas. The company’s Robotaxi fleet has grown to 1,159 vehicles and is projected to exceed 3,000 units by end-2026 as part of its deeper collaboration with Tencent Cloud.
1. Integration Details
Pony.ai’s robotaxi service is now accessible through Tencent’s WeChat Mobility Services portal in designated areas of Guangzhou, allowing users to book fully driverless rides directly after entering pickup and drop-off points. The company plans to extend this integration to Tencent Maps, further embedding its service into the WeChat ecosystem.
2. Fleet Growth and Coverage
Since 2025, Pony.ai has deployed 1,159 fully driverless vehicles across Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen, becoming the first in China to operate in all four tier-one cities. The fleet is slated to expand to over 3,000 units by the end of 2026 to meet growing urban demand.
3. Collaboration with Tencent Cloud
The expanded integration builds on Pony.ai’s broader strategic partnership with Tencent Cloud, which includes joint efforts in cloud computing, mapping, smart cabin solutions, virtual simulation and AI development. This collaboration aims to enhance service stability and scalability for Pony.ai’s autonomous fleet.
4. Industry and Global Partnerships
Domestically, Pony.ai has forged alliances with Alipay, Amap, Xihu Group, Sunlight Mobility, Chenqi Technology and Jinjiang Taxi to bolster ecosystem development. Internationally, it collaborates with Stellantis, Uber, Bolt, ComfortDelGro, Emile Weber and Mowasalat in Qatar to support testing, pilot programs and fleet deployments abroad.
