Power Integrations unveiled its TOPSwitchGaN flyback IC family boosting flyback converter output to 440 W while eliminating heat sinks in many designs and reducing system cost. The devices achieve up to 92% efficiency across 10–100% load, comply with ErP standby limits under 50 mW and start at $1 per unit.
1. Flyback Topology Extended to 440 W
The TOPSwitchGaN family integrates PowiGaN switches with TOPSwitch architecture to push flyback converter output to 440 W, a range previously requiring resonant or LLC topologies, simplifying design by removing the need for heat sinks and synchronous rectification.
2. High Efficiency and Regulatory Compliance
Devices deliver 92% efficiency across 10-100% loads, maintain standby power under 50 mW to meet ErP regulations, and operate up to 150 kHz with 800 V switches for reduced transformer size and enhanced surge withstand capability.

ICs are available in low-profile eSOP-12 packaging for heat-sink-free 135 W outputs and eSIP-7 packages for up to 440 W with optional heat sinks; pricing starts at $1.00 per unit for 10,000 quantities and includes reference designs for appliances, industrial PSUs, and e-bike chargers.
