OTEX•National Post highlights EU invitation and spending cuts call
- European Union President Ursula von der Leyen extended an invitation to Canada on Wednesday to become the European Union’s first ever “associate member.”
- The Canadian Taxpayers Federation called on the Carney government to make about $60 billion in annual spending cuts, including the end of taxpayer support for corporations, the CBC, the Senate and expense accounts for past governors general.
Canadian tax deduction, airline deal and AI partnership make Globe and Mail
- Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney unveiled a permanent tax deduction that will allow companies to write off the full cost of acquiring or building a wide range of new business assets, with eligible costs including things such as new equipment, infrastructure and software.
- Private equity firm Birch Hill Equity Partners is forming a regional airline group in British Columbia, with Birch Hill-owned Harbour Air buying Pacific Coastal Airlines.
