Progyny study finds racial disparities in fertility treatment initiation despite benefits access
PGNY•Progyny announced research showing racial and ethnic disparities in fertility treatment initiation persisted despite access to benefits. The study examined 12,516 patients who accessed fertility benefits between 2024 and 2025.
1. Study findings
Research presented at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine’s 2026 Scientific Congress & Expo found that some minority patient groups started fertility treatment less often or faced longer delays, while timing of treatment cycles resulting in pregnancy was broadly comparable. The study did not establish reasons for the differences and highlighted the need to examine barriers beyond coverage.
