1. Defiance Launches Daily 2X Long NOK ETF
On January 21, 2026, Defiance ETFs introduced the Defiance Daily Target 2X Long NOK ETF (LNOK), the first single-stock leveraged product designed to deliver twice the daily percentage return of Nokia Oyj shares. Aimed at experienced traders, the fund uses swap agreements and options contracts to seek 200% of Nokia’s daily price movement. The launch expands Defiance’s suite to seven single-stock leveraged ETFs and reflects growing demand for tactical, short-term instruments. Investors should note that the fund’s performance resets each trading day, and compounding effects during volatile markets may lead to returns that deviate significantly from twice Nokia’s return over longer horizons. As a newly organized vehicle, LNOK carries higher portfolio turnover, potential counterparty and liquidity risks, and the possibility of a complete loss of principal within one session.
2. Proximus Awards Nokia Major Cloud-Native Infrastructure Deal
Proximus announced on January 20, 2026 that it will migrate its entire fixed and mobile customer base—and more than 1,000 distinct products—to Nokia’s cloud-native charging and voice core solutions, hosted on Proximus’s own Red Hat OpenShift environment. The agreement covers full replacement of a competitor’s charging system with Nokia Converged Charging, plus deployment of Nokia’s Voice Core, Subscriber Data Management and Policy Controller platforms. Proximus expects the overhaul to drive greater automation, self-optimizing network capabilities and support for new 5G monetization services in areas such as IoT, gaming and digital advertising. The deal underscores Nokia’s expanding footprint in cloud-native telecom infrastructure and follows Proximus’s 2024 underlying revenue of EUR 6.43 billion and a workforce of 13,131 employees.
