Prudential’s PGIM, Quarterra Start Construction on 385-Unit Gold-Certified Alexandria Crossing
PRU•Prudential Financial’s PGIM and Quarterra have broken ground on Alexandria Crossing, a seven-story, 385-unit luxury apartment community in Alexandria designed for NGBS Gold environmental certification. The development includes 44 for-sale two-over-two townhomes, 33 traditional townhomes, and an eight-level garage with 489 stalls and eight EV chargers.
1. Project Launch
PGIM, the global asset management arm of Prudential Financial, and multifamily developer Quarterra officially broke ground on Alexandria Crossing at 6239 Shields Avenue. The ceremony marks PGIM’s second multifamily project in Virginia and Quarterra’s first in Alexandria, signaling continued expansion in high-growth markets.
2. Unit Mix and Sustainability
The mid-rise community spans seven stories and features 385 rental units ranging from 398 to 1,378 square feet, alongside 44 for-sale two-over-two townhomes and 33 traditional for-sale townhomes. All structures are engineered to meet National Green Building Standard Gold Certification, underscoring a commitment to energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
3. Amenities and Connectivity
Residents will benefit from two courtyards with a resort-style pool, a state-of-the-art fitness center, clubhouse, dog park/spa, and business center. The site offers prime regional access via US Route 1, I-495, I-395, the Huntington Metro and a future BRT stop, plus an eight-level garage with 489 stalls including eight EV charging spaces.
