PSEG Long Island Distributes 500 Trees to Cut Home Energy Bills 20%
PSEG Long Island is distributing 500 free trees across Suffolk and Nassau counties starting April 1 to help customers save up to 20% on summer energy bills once mature. Volunteers will hand out LED lightbulbs and reusable shopping bags across Long Island to reduce energy costs.
1. Energy-Saving Trees Program
PSEG Long Island, in partnership with the PSEG Foundation and Arbor Day Foundation, will offer 500 free trees to customers in Suffolk and Nassau counties. Reservations open April 1 via the Arbor Day website and each strategically planted tree can deliver up to 20% savings on home cooling costs once fully grown.
2. LED Bulbs and Reusable Bags
Throughout April, PSEG Long Island volunteers will distribute free LED lightbulbs and reusable shopping bags at community events across Long Island and the Rockaways, aiming to lower household energy consumption and reduce plastic waste.
3. Partnerships and Community Impact
The initiative is backed by the Rockaway Initiative for Sustainability and Equity, highlighting PSEG’s commitment to environmental sustainability and customer affordability. These efforts are designed to enhance community relations and reinforce PSEG’s long-term strategy of driving energy efficiency.
