Qualcomm Taps Tata Electronics’ $3bn Assam Plant for Automotive Modules

Qualcomm has partnered with Tata Electronics to produce automotive modules at a new $3 billion semiconductor assembly and test facility in Assam targeting digital cockpits and connectivity systems under Make in India. Analysts have reduced first-quarter EPS estimates by 19.6%, triggering a Strong Sell analyst rating.

1. Partnership With Tata Electronics

Qualcomm Technologies has signed an agreement with Tata Electronics to manufacture Automotive Modules at a new semiconductor assembly and test facility in Jagiroad, Assam. Tata Electronics is investing $3 billion in the site, which will focus on Wire Bond, Flip Chip and Integrated Systems Packaging for digital cockpit, infotainment and connectivity systems under the Make in India initiative.

2. Analyst Estimate Revisions

Analysts have reduced first-quarter EPS estimates by 19.6% and trimmed current fiscal-year revenue forecasts to $44.05 billion, a 0.2% year-on-year decline. These revisions have resulted in a Strong Sell rating and suggest potential near-term headwinds for the stock.
