On February 20, 2026, Quantum Leap Energy’s South African subsidiary and Necsa executed a Pre-Implementation Services Contract to site, design, build, commission and operate a High Assay Low Enriched Uranium (HALEU) enrichment facility at Necsa’s Pelindaba site. Under the Services Contract, Necsa will provide facilities, infrastructure, utilities and site services while a Joint Coordination Committee of QLE and Necsa representatives governs implementation, ensuring compliance with safety protocols, security requirements and regulatory approvals. The collaboration aims to achieve market readiness for HALEU production to support next-generation reactors. US Department of Energy projections indicate a need for 50 metric tons of HALEU annually by 2035 and 500 metric tons by 2050, highlighting the strategic importance of diverse supply chains.
