QuantumScape Launches Automated Eagle Line to Scale Gigawatt-Hour Solid-State Batteries
On February 4, QuantumScape commissioned its automated Eagle Line at the San Jose facility, deploying its proprietary Cobra process for solid-state battery separator production. Once ramped, the line will produce gigawatt-hour level battery cells for sampling, integration, and licensing partners, marking a key commercialization milestone.
1. Eagle Line Inauguration
On February 4, QuantumScape commissioned its Eagle Line at the San Jose facility, attended by automotive partners, government officials and ecosystem collaborators. The fully automated line integrates the proprietary Cobra process to manufacture solid-state battery separators at scale.
2. Scalable Production and Licensing
Once fully ramped, the Eagle Line will output battery cells at gigawatt-hour levels for sampling, testing and integration. It also serves as a licensing model for partners to replicate production using QuantumScape’s automated blueprint.
3. Commercialization Outlook
CEO Siva Sivaram called the Eagle Line a major commercialization step, while COO Luca Fasoli emphasized improvements in automation, quality and output. The platform is expected to accelerate process enhancements and meet growing customer demand for solid-state batteries.
