Questcorp Launches 10–15 km IP Survey on North Island Copper Project
Questcorp Mining has contracted Peter W. Walcott and Associates to conduct a 10–15 line km IP survey over its 1,168-hectare North Island Copper project, focusing on the historic Marisa Zone. Historic drilling recorded 0.078% Cu over 56.39 m and 0.041% Cu over 70.71 m, with grades increasing at depth.
1. Contractor Selected for Induced Polarization Survey
Questcorp Mining Inc. has retained Peter W. Walcott and Associates Limited of Coquitlam, B.C. to conduct a permitted 10 to 15-line-kilometre induced polarization (IP) survey on its 1,168-hectare North Island Copper project near Port Hardy, Vancouver Island. The survey will focus on the historic Marisa Zone, a porphyry copper target last explored in the 1990s. Mobilization is slated for mid-February, with completion expected before the end of the month. The tighter line spacing and consistent azimuth with the 1973 survey aim to enhance resolution and generate robust chargeability and resistivity subsurface maps for drill targeting.
2. Historical Drill Results Highlight Copper Potential
Previously, a preliminary 12.3-line-kilometre IP survey identified a chargeability anomaly later tested by a five-hole, 376.43-metre diamond drill program in 1992. Two holes returned notable intersections: 0.078% copper over 56.39 metres in hole DDH92-01 and 0.041% copper over 70.71 metres in DDH92-03, with copper grades increasing at depth. Questcorp plans to integrate these legacy results with new survey data to refine drill targets and confirm intervals of porphyry-style mineralization in the altered quartz diorite host.
3. Strategic Context and Next Steps
The North Island Copper project lies between two significant porphyry systems— the historic Island Copper Mine and NorthIsle Copper and Gold’s deposits—underscoring its regional potential. Upon survey completion, Questcorp and its contractor will produce new pseudosection lines and subsurface elevation plans to guide a follow-up drill program. The Company cautions that a Qualified Person has not yet verified the historical data, and equivalent mineralization on adjacent properties does not guarantee similar results on its claim package.
