Ramaco Signs MOU to Provide Brook Mine MREC, Scandium Oxide to REalloys
METC•Ramaco Resources signed a non-binding MOU on May 28 to supply Mixed Rare Earth Carbonate from its Wyoming Brook Mine exploratory project for separation at Saskatchewan Research Council facilities. The agreement also covers delivery of separated scandium oxide from Ramaco’s Brook Mine refinery to REalloys’ Ohio metallization plant.
1. Memorandum of Understanding Details
On May 28, Ramaco Resources and REalloys entered a non-binding memorandum of understanding outlining a strategic partnership. Under the MOU, Ramaco will provide Mixed Rare Earth Carbonate from its Wyoming Brook Mine project while REalloys conducts due diligence to finalize an offtake contract.
2. Supply Chain and Processing Facilities
The agreement specifies that Ramaco’s MREC feedstock will be processed at the Saskatchewan Research Council separation facility. Additionally, Ramaco will supply separated scandium oxide from its Brook Mine refinery for alloy metallization at REalloys’ Euclid, Ohio plant.
3. Brook Mine Project Overview
The Brook Mine remains in the exploration stage with no guarantee of commercial production. It hosts rare earth and critical mineral resources, including inferred scandium oxide, and sits adjacent to Ramaco’s advanced carbon research facility in Wyoming.
4. Future Steps and Risks
Parties will complete due diligence and negotiate binding offtake terms, with timing dependent on project milestones. Given the non-binding nature and exploratory status of Brook Mine, development and production volumes remain uncertain and subject to regulatory and technical challenges.
