Redwire Sunsets Edge Autonomy, Integrates UAS into Two New Business Segments
Redwire has sunsetted its Edge Autonomy brand and integrated its UAS defense technology offerings under the Redwire name. The company reorganized into two segments—Space, led by Mike Gold, and Defense Tech, led by Steve Adlich—after acquiring Edge Autonomy in June 2025 to enhance multi-domain mission capabilities.
1. Redwire Unifies Branding and Structure
Redwire Corporation announced the sunsetting of its Edge Autonomy brand, fully folding all uncrewed aerial systems (UAS) and related defense technology offerings into the core Redwire branding. This move centralizes both space and defense technology capabilities under a single identity, aiming to enhance market clarity and investor visibility as the company pursues accelerated growth in strategic domains.
2. Two Strategic Business Segments
Effective immediately, Redwire will operate through two business segments. The Space segment, led by Segment President Mike Gold, will develop next-generation spacecraft, large space infrastructure and microgravity platforms for civil, national security and commercial clients; it will also house SpaceMD, Redwire’s biotech venture. The Defense Tech segment, under Segment President Steve Adlich, will focus on combat-proven autonomous systems, optical sensors and RF payloads delivering intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance solutions to U.S. and allied forces.
3. Successful Integration of Edge Autonomy
Redwire’s acquisition of Edge Autonomy in June 2025—its first major defense-tech merger—has been fully integrated into the new Defense Tech segment. The consolidation leverages Edge Autonomy’s portfolio of uncrewed aerial systems and adds more than 200 specialized engineers to Redwire’s workforce, now totaling approximately 1,300 employees across the United States and Europe. Management expects this synergy to drive cross-domain mission capabilities and expand contract opportunities.
4. Financial Reporting and Growth Outlook
The company will reclassify Q4 FY2025 financial results to reflect the new two-segment structure, providing granular revenue and margin data for Space and Defense Tech. Chairman and CEO Peter Cannito emphasized that this realignment optimizes operational execution, strengthens Redwire’s positioning in rapidly expanding aerospace and defense markets, and sets the stage for continued top-line growth driven by multi-domain mission requirements.
