Regions Financial CFO David Turner to Retire March 31; Anil Chadha Named Successor

RFRF

Regions Financial CFO David Turner will retire on March 31 after a nearly 40-year career, including 14 years as CFO since 2010. He will be succeeded by Controller and head of Corporate Finance Anil Chadha, who has worked at the bank since 2011.

1. Q4 Loan Growth and NII Set to Boost Revenues

Regions Financial is expected to report a year-over-year increase in total loans of approximately 8.1% in the quarter ended December 31, driven by robust demand in commercial real estate and middle-market financing. Net interest income (NII) is projected to rise by nearly 11%, reflecting both higher average loan yields and a strategic hedging program that has limited funding costs. These factors should support a projected revenue increase of close to 7% compared with the prior year. However, noninterest expense is anticipated to climb by around 9%, as investments in digital platforms and branch modernization continue to weigh on the efficiency ratio, which analysts estimate will settle near 60% for the quarter. Investors will watch closely how Regions manages this cost pressure while sustaining loan growth and margin expansion.

2. CFO Transition Ensures Leadership Continuity

Regions Financial announced that Chief Financial Officer David Turner will retire on March 31 after nearly four decades in finance, including 20 years at Regions and 14 years as CFO. Turner’s tenure saw net income surpass $1.7 billion in 2024 and total shareholder return of roughly 320% since his promotion in 2010. He will be succeeded by Anil Chadha, who joined Regions in 2011 and currently oversees corporate finance, financial reporting and risk analytics. Chadha has helped manage a $160 billion balance sheet and maintain peer-leading return on average tangible common equity for four consecutive years. The company has outlined a transition plan through March to ensure seamless handoff of investor relations, capital allocation and treasury functions, aiming to preserve the discipline and strategic vision that characterized Turner’s term.
