
Renk Group has agreed to acquire UK-based David Brown Defence, gaining its 530 employees and over £700 million in order backlog through 2030. The deal secures access to high-value Global Combat Ship naval programs and expands Renk’s submarine propulsion expertise across Five Eyes markets by Q4 2026.
Renk Group has signed a binding agreement to acquire David Brown Defence from private equity owner Stellex Capital Management through its subsidiary RENK GmbH. The acquisition targets a specialist in high-precision gearboxes for naval and land defense applications.
David Brown Defence brings an order backlog exceeding £700 million through 2030 and a workforce of approximately 530 employees. Key contracts include the UK’s Global Combat Ship program and allied naval initiatives in Canada and Australia.
The deal grants Renk expanded capabilities in submarine propulsion systems and high-value marine defense technology. It also strengthens the company’s footprint within Five Eyes countries, offering operational and technological synergies across defense programs.
Completion is subject to regulatory approvals and is projected for the fourth quarter of 2026. Integration planning is underway to align operations and realize projected revenue and cost synergies.
