Resolution Copper, a Rio Tinto subsidiary, awarded about $110 million in U.S. contracts to Major Drilling America and Redpath USA for work on an Arizona mine development project.
The spending marks an early commitment under a roughly $500 million investment program tied to completion of the FEIS process, Record of Decision, and land exchange.
Major Drilling will run a 2.5-year deep directional diamond drilling program from surface, about 6,800 feet underground.
Redpath will start underground development, convert two 7,000-foot shafts, and build a new station about 6,800 feet below ground.
