Revisions to building permits
SPY•The Commerce Department revised August U.S. building permits to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.403 million, up from the previously reported 1.394 million; the rate was down 2.1% from July.
1. Revised permit figures
The Commerce Department revised U.S. building permit data issued on Sept. 17. August permits were revised to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.403 million units, compared with 1.394 million previously; July remained at 1.433 million.
2. Permit breakdown
August single-family permits were revised to 880,000 from 878,000, while permits for buildings with multiple units were revised to 523,000 from 516,000. The revised August total was 5.5% above the year-earlier rate of 1.330 million, compared with a previously reported 3.5% increase.
