Royal Bank of Canada quarterly profit rises on trading boost

Royal Bank of Canada reported a rise in third-quarter profit on Thursday, as market volatility helped boost its trading activity.

The bank reported a net income of C$6.02 billion ($4.34 billion), or C$4.23 per share, for the three months ended July 31, compared with C$5.41 billion, or C$3.75 per share, in the year earlier.
