RTX Gains Space Interceptor Contract While U.S. Sanctions Chinese Satellite Firms

RTXRTX

The U.S. imposed sanctions on two Chinese satellite firms for providing military support to Iran, barring them from U.S. components and software and tightening export controls. RTX was named alongside Rocket Lab for the Defense Department’s Space Based Interceptor program, expanding its space-defense backlog with a major Pentagon contract.

1. U.S. Sanctions on Chinese Satellite Firms

The U.S. added two Chinese satellite companies to its entity list for supplying satellite services to Iran’s military, cutting off access to U.S. hardware, software and technical data. These measures aim to disrupt adversarial space-based communications and limit the sanctioned firms’ ability to procure critical components.

2. RTX’s Space Based Interceptor Contract

RTX was selected alongside Rocket Lab for the Defense Department’s Space Based Interceptor program, marking a significant defense win that bolsters its space-defense backlog. The program seeks to deploy space-based sensors and interceptors for missile tracking and engages RTX for sensor integration, system engineering and mission support.
