Barclays falls despite interim profit beat

Barclays upgraded income guidance for the year from £31 billion to £31.5 billion ($41.87 billion) and launched a fresh share buyback of £1 billion, above forecasts for £831 million.
The stock has risen about 6% so far this year.

Shares fall despite first-half profit beat
Shares in Barclays fell 5% to 504p, making it the top loser on the FTSE 100 index, which was up 0.1%.
The British lender posted a first-half profit rise of 17%, beating analysts' forecasts, following Wall Street peers in reaping bumper equities trading revenues and deal fees.
