RTX's Collins Aerospace to expand Iowa plant that makes engine components
RTX•RTX said Collins Aerospace will expand its West Des Moines, Iowa, facility by 14,000 square feet with a multi-million-dollar investment to increase manufacturing capacity. The company did not disclose the investment amount.
1. Expansion plans
The facility makes fuel distribution systems and engine nozzle components for commercial and military aircraft, shipping more than 25,000 engine nozzles a month. It employs about 300 full-time workers, and RTX plans to add jobs by the end of the year and continue hiring into 2027.
2. Timeline and capacity
Construction is scheduled to begin later this month, with completion expected by the middle of next year. Collins Aerospace completed a $14 million, 9,000-square-foot expansion of another West Des Moines facility in 2023 to increase capacity with metal 3D printers.
