Safe Pro Group began commercial deployment of its NODE-X miniaturized AI-powered edge compute processor at a U.S. Army exercise, marking its first rollout under a recent government contract. Additional Army exercises are scheduled through Q2 2026 as the company builds momentum in defense markets.

NODE-X is a backpack kit featuring real-time AI inference on a ruggedized edge compute server paired with GPU laptops running OnSight software compatible with Short-Range Reconnaissance drones. Operating without connectivity, it leverages SPOTD machine learning—trained on 2.6 million drone images and 47,000 confirmed detections—for rapid threat detection, 3D mapping and automated route guidance.

Following its government contract, Safe Pro plans to ramp production of NODE-X to meet increasing demand signals in the defense sector. The company aims to leverage soldier feedback loops to iterate on its AI edge ecosystem and capture new contracts across military, security and humanitarian applications.

Chairman and CEO Dan Erdberg highlighted over three years of field experience and direct soldier input that shaped NODE-X’s compact, high-performance design. He stressed ongoing efforts to accelerate production and expand the platform’s adoption in upcoming military exercises and potential international defense programs.
