Samsara published a Compounding Risk Report showing the top 10% of risk-ranked drivers accounted for 47% of crashes.
The top 30% of risk-ranked drivers accounted for 76% of crashes, pointing to concentrated safety exposure in fleets.
Mobile use alone was tied to a 2.7x likelihood of landing in the highest-risk tier; combined with harsh braking, 4.5x.
Mobile use, distraction, and harsh braking together were associated with a 5.4x likelihood of the highest-risk tier.
The analysis used aggregated model training and evaluation data from July 1 to Dec. 15, 2025 across industries.
