Schneider taps Jim Filter CEO, names execs for $4.9B divisions
SNDR•Schneider National will enact its leadership transition on July 1, elevating Jim Filter—veteran EVP of transportation and logistics—to president and CEO as Mark Rourke becomes executive chairman. Michael Baumgardt and Steve Wells will oversee $2.4B intermodal/logistics and $2.5B truckload units, with Angela Prill promoted to senior vice president.
1. CEO Succession
On July 1, Jim Filter will become president and CEO, succeeding Mark Rourke, who transitions to executive chairman. Filter has served 27 years at Schneider, most recently as executive vice president and president of transportation and logistics.
2. Intermodal and Logistics Leadership
Michael Baumgardt is appointed executive vice president of intermodal and logistics after serving as senior vice president and general manager of intermodal. The combined intermodal and logistics segments generated $2.4 billion in revenue over the past 12 months.
3. Truckload Unit Leadership
Steve Wells becomes executive vice president of Schneider’s truckload unit following his tenure as president and chief operating officer at acquired subsidiary Cowan Systems. The truckload division posted $2.5 billion in revenue during the last 12 months.
4. Executive Promotions and Board Changes
Angela Prill is promoted to senior vice president of intermodal operations after 16 years with Schneider. Chairman James Welch will become lead independent director and Austin Ramirez has been added to the board as part of the ongoing succession plan.
