Securitize launches blockchain-based stocks
SECZ•Securitize is launching tokenized stocks backed by shares in companies including Apple, Nvidia and Microsoft, initially on Solana. The products will first trade during extended hours and may later be available 24/7.
1. Tokenized stock launch
Securitize said it is launching tokenized stock trading for major listed companies, including Apple, Nvidia and Microsoft, with tokens backed by underlying shares. The products will initially launch on the Solana blockchain and be available to eligible investors in the United States, European Union and other permitted jurisdictions.
2. Trading plans and rights
Securitize expects the tokens to trade on the New York Stock Exchange’s forthcoming round-the-clock venue and a planned venue developed by crypto exchange OKX and Intercontinental Exchange. The products will initially be available during extended trading hours, with plans for 24/7 availability in the future. Securitize said they preserve the investor rights and economic benefits associated with owning shares.
3. Industry context
The crypto industry says tokenizing securities could enable round-the-clock trading and instant settlement, boosting liquidity and reducing transaction costs. Many tokenized stock products overseas, however, rarely offer the same rights, disclosures and protections as traditional equities.
