SEIC•SEI research on asset consolidation and advisor capacity
SEI research found 71% of high-net-worth investors say their advisor has never asked to manage more assets.
Surveys showed 88% keep some assets held away; 47% keep 75% or less with their primary advisor.
Tax savings was the top consolidation trigger at 46%; more than one-third would move assets within a year if savings were quantified.
Advisors reported heavy operational drag: 48 hours per month on household-level tasks, rising to 65-67 hours for larger books.
Only 49% said they can quantify benefits across every household practice; 30% cited inadequate technology as a scaling barrier.
