Semtech Launches AI Video Compression Saving 90% Bandwidth and 5G RedCap IoT Modem

Semtech unveiled a partnership with Digital Barriers to launch Video Compression combining EdgeVis AI and AirLink XR60 5G router, reducing bandwidth use by up to 90% for cellular surveillance. It also introduced the FX86E 5G RedCap modem for industrial IoT, currently sampling ahead of Embedded World 2026.

1. AI-Powered Video Compression Partnership

Semtech announced a collaboration with Digital Barriers to roll out Semtech Video Compression, a fully integrated device-to-cloud solution pairing EdgeVis AI compression with the AirLink XR60 5G router and Smart Connectivity services. The system cuts bandwidth requirements from 4–6 Mbps to 300–500 Kbps while preserving video quality for surveillance, traffic monitoring and critical infrastructure applications in North America and EMEA.

2. Launch of FX86E 5G RedCap Modem

The company also introduced the FX86E, a plug-and-play 5G RedCap modem designed for industrial IoT deployments. Supporting 5G RedCap, 4G/LTE, public and private networks—including CBRS and Anterix B106—the module offers Ethernet connectivity, rugged industrial specifications and secure firmware updates, and is now sampling ahead of Embedded World 2026.

3. Technical Performance and Outlook

Over the past 12 months, Semtech shares have climbed 170.8%, trading near key moving averages as momentum remains strong. With Q1 earnings due March 16 (EPS est. $0.37 on $273.1 million revenue), analysts at Susquehanna, Benchmark and Stifel have raised price targets, while valuation metrics signal premium pricing against high quality and momentum scores.
