SHEL•Shell has agreed a proposed sale of its French fuel stations and related transport-fuels services to DCC Energy, with completion expected in the second quarter of 2027, subject to employee consultation. The transaction would include around 70 sites, eight LNG installations and 35 employees; its value was not immediately known.
1. Proposed station sale
Shell has agreed a deal with DCC Energy for the proposed sale of its fuel retail station network and related transport-fuels services in France, according to a person familiar with the matter and documents. The parties have yet to finalise the deal, and completion is expected in the second quarter of 2027, subject to consultation with employee representatives.
2. Assets and operations
The transaction would include around 70 sites, eight LNG installations and the transfer of 35 employees. DCC Energy would operate the stations under a long-term Shell brand licence, while Shell's core fuel supply operations are excluded and the buyer would source fuel independently.
3. Shell’s retail strategy
Shell aims to focus fuel retail and charging operations on key markets where it generates the majority of its cash flow, including the US, Canada and the United Kingdom. Shell's marketing unit reported $1.3 billion in adjusted earnings in the second quarter, compared with $1.2 billion a year earlier.
