Travelers’ third-quarter core EPS rose to $9.18, beating the $7.42 analyst consensus, while revenue was $12.41 billion. Core income benefited from higher prior-year reserve development and investment income, partly offset by higher catastrophe losses; the company repurchased $1.5 billion of shares.
Travelers reported third-quarter net income of $1.92 billion and core EPS of $9.18, compared with an analyst consensus of $7.42. Revenue was $12.41 billion. The combined ratio was 86.80%, and the underlying combined ratio was 84.10%.
Core income benefited from higher net favorable prior-year reserve development across all segments. Record net investment income rose 6%, driven by higher yields and growth in average invested assets. Higher catastrophe losses, mainly from severe wind and hail storms, partially offset those gains.
Travelers said it is well positioned to finish the year strong and sees momentum and innovation supporting its outlook for 2027 and beyond. It repurchased $1.5 billion of shares in the quarter and reported a quarterly dividend of $1.25.
