SkyWest Airlines Appoints Wade Steel as President and COO Overseeing 2,600 Flights
SKYW•SkyWest Airlines has named Wade Steel as president and COO, giving him oversight of 16,000 employees, 2,600 daily departures and partnerships with United, Delta, American and Alaska. Bryce Bailey will become vice president of commercial contracts, reporting to Steel and managing all vendor and commercial agreements.
1. Wade Steel Named President and COO
On July 9, 2026, SkyWest Airlines elevated Wade Steel to president and chief operating officer of its largest subsidiary, where he will report directly to President and CEO Chip Childs and guide overall airline strategy.
2. Oversight of Operations and Partnerships
In his new capacity, Steel will manage 16,000 employees, direct 2,600 daily departures and maintain relationships with four major carriers—United, Delta, American and Alaska—to enhance operational efficiency and fiscal results.
3. Bryce Bailey Appointed VP of Commercial Contracts
Bryce Bailey, with SkyWest since 2011, has been promoted to vice president of commercial contracts, assuming responsibility for all vendor and partnership agreements and reporting to Steel.
