1. SoftBank Corp unveils Infrinia AI Cloud OS

SoftBank Corp’s Infrinia Team, under the leadership of President & CEO Junichi Miyakawa, today announced the launch of Infrinia AI Cloud OS, a comprehensive software stack tailored for next-generation AI data centers. Developed over an 18-month period in SoftBank’s Tokyo R&D facility, the OS integrates GPU virtualization, automated workload orchestration and dynamic resource allocation across CPU, GPU and FPGA clusters. The platform features an intuitive web-based management console, supports more than 100 popular AI frameworks, and delivers latency reductions of up to 30% in internal benchmarks. Initial trials will begin this quarter at SoftBank’s Chiba data center, with full commercial deployment slated for early 2025.

2. SoftBank Vision Fund leads $70 million investment in Emergent

SoftBank Vision Fund co-led a $70 million Series B funding round in Indian AI startup Emergent, joined by Khosla Ventures and returning backers Nexus Ventures and Elevation Capital. Emergent, founded in 2020, has developed an AI-driven customer engagement platform serving over 150 enterprise clients in e-commerce, financial services and healthcare. The new capital will accelerate development of Emergent’s multilingual natural-language generation module and expand its sales footprint across Southeast Asia and the Middle East. SoftBank’s participation signals continued focus on scaling high-growth AI application firms in emerging markets.
