South Korea's Lee says Alaska LNG work conditional on viability, legal procedures
LNG•President Lee Jae Myung said work on the Alaska LNG project would begin only if its commercial viability is confirmed and it complies with South Korean legal procedures. He said nuclear projects must show viability plant by plant and investment profits would be shared 50:50 until principal and interest are recovered.
1. Conditions for investment
Lee said work on the Alaska LNG project, announced by the White House as part of South Korea's U.S. investment package, would begin only if its commercial viability is confirmed and it complies with South Korean legal procedures.
2. Profit-sharing terms
In a post on X, Lee said nuclear power projects must demonstrate commercial viability on a plant-by-plant basis. He added that profits from investment projects would be shared 50:50 until all principal and interest had been recovered.
