1. Southern Co. Joins XCF, IP3 and DevvStream in Nuclear Power MOU
Southern Co. has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding with X-energy Capital Holdings (XCF), IP3 International and DevvStream to evaluate an America-first nuclear power platform that integrates continuous emissions-free electricity with scalable production of eSAF (electro-synthetic aviation fuel). The collaboration will explore next-generation pathways combining high-temperature electrolysis, hydrogen generation and low-carbon fuel synthesis to support both clean fuels production and power-hungry AI data centers. By leveraging modular advanced reactors capable of delivering up to 300 megawatts of heat and electricity per unit, the partners aim to create a platform where environmental attributes can be monetized through certification and offtake agreements, potentially unlocking new revenue streams for Southern Co.’s regulated utility operations while enhancing its decarbonization roadmap.
