Southwest Airlines Unveils Independence One Livery, Commits $250K Volunteer Grants
Southwest Airlines introduced its Independence One livery—featuring a red, white and blue scheme, 1776 quill script and thirteen stars—to celebrate 55 years of service and the nation’s 250th anniversary. The airline partnered with America250 as the official airline of America Gives and committed up to $250,000 in nonprofit volunteer grants.
1. Independence One Livery Unveiled
Southwest Airlines unveiled its Independence One livery with a red, white and blue paint scheme, 1776 quill script, thirteen stars and Betsy Ross motifs to honor 55 years of service and the U.S. Semiquincentennial. The new aircraft joins Freedom One and Liberty One in the carrier’s fleet of America-themed jets.
2. Partnership with America250 and Volunteer Grants
As the official airline of America Gives, Southwest has partnered with America250 to promote volunteerism nationwide. The carrier will invest up to $250,000 in its We Serve Together grant, funding nonprofit projects that Southwest employees support through community service.
3. Deployment and Service Milestones
Independence One is scheduled to enter service on April 29 with its inaugural flight from Dallas to Philadelphia. The aircraft will carry the America250 logo alongside Liberty One and Freedom One throughout the year, making special stops to celebrate local Semiquincentennial events.
