Soybeans, corn down on US harvest pressure; wheat falls
DBA•Chicago corn fell 0.5% and soybeans lost 0.3% as the US harvest weighed on prices, while wheat fell 0.2%. Corn and soybeans were near multiweek lows.
1. Grains decline
Corn fell to $4.95-1/4 a bushel and soybeans to $12.74-3/4 by 0009 GMT on Monday. Wheat lost 0.2% to $6.82 a bushel, with disruptions to Black Sea supplies limiting its decline.
2. Harvest and supply
Traders are debating the size of the US corn and soybean harvests ahead of Agriculture Department crop production and supply-demand reports. StoneX lowered its 2026 US corn yield estimate to 182.1 bushels per acre from 182.9, and raised its soybean yield estimate to 54.1 from 53.0. US farmers and grain handlers held 35% more corn in storage on September 1 than a year earlier.
3. Black Sea disruption
Sovecon cut its forecast for Russia’s 2026/27 grain exports to 44.7 million metric tons from 49.4 million, warning that Azov and Black Sea ports would remain shut until 2027.
