SpaceX launches 13th long-duration astronaut crew to International Space Station
SPCX•SpaceX launched four astronauts and cosmonauts aboard a Falcon 9 rocket from Florida for the 13th long-duration crew mission to the International Space Station. The crew is set to dock around 7 p.m. EDT and will study human health and performance in orbit.
1. Crew reaches orbit
A SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida, carrying a Crew Dragon capsule with two U.S. astronauts, a Canadian astronaut and a Russian cosmonaut. The reusable first-stage booster returned to Earth for landing, and the capsule reached orbit.
2. Research mission
The capsule is making an eight-hour journey to the space station and is set to dock around 7 p.m. EDT. The crew will conduct biomedical and human-performance studies, including research on how microgravity affects blood circulation and clotting.
