Spyre gains after Merck's drug succeeds in skin disease trial
SYRE•Spyre Therapeutics shares rose 6.08% after Merck said its experimental drug tulisokibart significantly reduced inflammatory skin lesions in hidradenitis suppurativa patients. Analysts said the results support Spyre’s TL1A drug candidates.
1. Trial results support pathway
Merck’s experimental drug tulisokibart significantly reduced inflammatory skin lesions in patients with hidradenitis suppurativa, a chronic skin disease. Analysts said the data validates the TL1A drug class and supports Spyre’s experimental candidates targeting the same pathway.
2. Spyre studies combination
Spyre is studying SPY072 with bimekizumab, sold as Bimzelx, in hidradenitis suppurativa patients, with proof-of-concept data expected in late 2027 or early 2028. TD Cowen said the results support the rationale for the combination study and the potential of dual TL1A/IL-17 blockade. The brokerage also said the data may support a standalone treatment opportunity, citing SPY072’s roughly 10-fold greater potency and threefold longer half-life compared with tulisokibart.
