SS Innovations Completes 12,500-Mile Robotic Telesurgery and Gains Guyana Approval
SSII•SS Innovations completed a 12,500-mile cardiac telesurgery between Guyana and India using its SSi Mantra system, doubling the previous record distance and demonstrating 290-300ms network latency viability. Regulatory approval in 14 countries, including Guyana in May 2026, supports further global deployment and program launches.
1. World-Record Intercontinental Telesurgery
SS Innovations’ CEO Dr. Sudhir Srivastava remotely performed a Left Internal Mammary Artery takedown on a patient in India from Guyana over a 12,500-mile fiber network link, setting a new global distance record. The procedure, executed with the SSi Mantra robotic system at 290-300ms latency, marks the 22nd cardiac telesurgery and 173rd overall remote operation using the platform.
2. Regulatory Milestones and Global Deployment
In May 2026, Guyana’s GA-FDD granted approval for the SSi Mantra, expanding its regulatory footprint to 14 countries across Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Guyana’s National Robotic Surgery Program launched three inaugural procedures on day one, positioning the country as a regional hub and demonstrating the company’s channel development and training ecosystem.
3. System Performance and Future Outlook
The modular, multi-arm SSi Mantra platform has proven its capability in high-latency, long-haul environments, supporting precise replication of surgeons’ movements across continents. This milestone underlines SS Innovations’ potential to capture new markets, accelerate adoption of affordable robotic surgery solutions, and drive future revenue growth as it expands its global presence.
