Stardust Power Joins DoD Consortium to Back 50,000-Ton Lithium Refinery
Stardust Power joined a DoD-aligned Cornerstone Consortium to address 18 industrial base sectors including critical minerals. The company’s involvement supports its Muskogee refinery project to produce 50,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate annually and strengthen U.S. supply chains.
1. Consortium Membership Details
Stardust Power has become a member of the Cornerstone Consortium, a Department of Defense–aligned collaborative framework that unites traditional and non-traditional defense contractors, private equity firms, academic institutions, government R&D centers and other organizations. The consortium focuses on strengthening capability across 18 industrial base sectors, including critical minerals and materials, to reduce supply chain vulnerabilities and enhance manufacturing resiliency.
2. Strategic Alignment and Security
By joining the consortium, Stardust Power aims to align with U.S. national security and economic competitiveness goals by reducing reliance on foreign-sourced critical minerals. This collaboration positions the company to leverage federal incentives and government partnerships designed to accelerate domestic processing capacity and support defense electrification and grid resilience efforts.
3. Muskogee Refinery Project
Stardust Power is advancing its Muskogee, Oklahoma lithium refinery toward construction and commissioning, targeting an annual capacity of 50,000 metric tons of battery-grade lithium carbonate. Participation in the consortium is expected to facilitate engagement with government and industry partners to secure project funding, optimize R&D integration and fast-track qualification processes within U.S. supply chains.
