The $152 billion Pentagon reconciliation plan designates $2.2 billion for hypersonic defense and $5.6 billion for space-based interceptors, underpinning demand for Starfighters Space’s test platforms. Starfighters has expanded its Midland hub with four F-104 jets and 14 GE J-79 engines, aiming to double that fleet in 18 months.

1. Pentagon Budget Fuels Hypersonics and Space Interceptors

The U.S. defense budget includes a $152 billion reconciliation plan allocating $2.2 billion for hypersonic defense systems and $5.6 billion for space-based interceptors, part of a record $839 billion Pentagon appropriation for fiscal 2026 that will drive demand for aerospace testing and advanced defense platforms.

2. Midland Hub Expansion

Starfighters Space has expanded its Midland International Air & Space Port operations by stationing four F-104 aircraft and 14 GE J-79 engines, with plans to double these assets within 18 months; the site now offers access to nine Southwest facilities including spaceports, Air Force bases and test ranges, enhancing mission cadence and geographic flexibility.

3. STARLAUNCH 1 Advances to Critical Design Review

The STARLAUNCH 1 program has progressed to Critical Design Review following successful subsonic and supersonic wind tunnel tests at Mach 0.85 and Mach 1.3, demonstrating clean separation and underscoring the only commercial fleet capable of carrying underwing payloads at speeds above Mach 2.

4. Dual Hubs Enhance Operational Resilience

Complementing its Kennedy Space Center headquarters, the Midland hub supports high-speed corridor initiatives with the Midland Development Corporation and bolsters air-launch development and airborne test programs, positioning the company for rapid operational scaling across government and commercial partnerships.
