Stellantis Italy output seen rebounding in 2026 after two years of decline, union says
STLA•Stellantis is expected to produce around 450,000 vehicles in Italy this year, reversing a two-year decline. It assembled 340,745 vehicles in the first nine months, up 28% year over year, while hybrid Fiat 500 output is expected to reach about 60,000, below the initial 100,000 target.
1. Output forecast
FIM Cisl expects Stellantis to produce around 450,000 vehicles in Italy this year, including more than 250,000 passenger cars. The forecast would reverse a two-year decline, though output is below initial expectations.
2. Models and constraints
Stellantis assembled 340,745 vehicles in Italy in the first nine months, up 28% from a year earlier. The union attributed the increase to new models, including the Jeep Compass SUV and hybrid Fiat 500, and a solid performance from the Fiat Panda. Additional models entering production are expected to support output in the final months of the year.
3. Fiat 500 target cut
Hybrid Fiat 500 production is now expected to reach about 60,000 vehicles this year, below Stellantis' initial target of 100,000. The union said repeated stoppages caused by engine-component shortages and weaker-than-expected demand weighed on output. Last year, Stellantis produced just under 380,000 vehicles in Italy, including 213,706 passenger cars, the lowest level since 1954.
