STMicroelectronics Debuts ST54M Chip with Post-Quantum Crypto Accelerator, NFC and eSIM
STM•STMicroelectronics launched ST54M, the industry’s first single-die mobile chip featuring a post-quantum cryptography hardware accelerator alongside NFC, secure element and eSIM. Sampling begins immediately with Common Criteria 2022 EUCC and EMVCo certification planned for July 2026 to support contactless payments, digital identity and mobile Point-of-Sale use cases.

STMicroelectronics introduced the ST54M, a secure mobile chip that integrates a hardware accelerator for post-quantum cryptography with NFC controller, embedded secure element and eSIM functionality on a single die to future-proof mobile security.
2. Security and Certification
ST54M’s hardware engine supports ML-KEM and ML-DSA algorithms, offers side-channel and fault-injection protections, and is undergoing Common Criteria 2022 EUCC and EMVCo certification targeting completion in July 2026.
3. Market Applications and Availability
Designed for smartphone and personal electronics manufacturers, ST54M enables contactless payments, transit ticketing, digital identity, access control, car keys and mobile PoS; samples are available now with volume production slated post-certification.
