STOXX falls, tech stocks lag
SPY•European stocks fall as investors weigh U.S.-Iran tensions
Europe's STOXX 600 .STOXX is down 0.5% as investors are weighing the seemingly dwindling chances of peace between the U.S. and Iran and everything that might come with that — elevated energy prices, higher inflation and interest rate hikes to name a few market worries.
Other major regional indices are also down, with the DAX .GDAXI and CAC .FCHI both down 0.6%. The FTSE .FTSE was meanwhile flatlining.
Tech stocks lag while retail gains and some singles-stock moves stand out
The majority of sectors were trading in the red, with tech stocks .SX8P falling the most, down 1.9% as the likes of Soitec SOIT.PA and Aixtron AIXGn.DE fell. Retail .SXRP shares were meanwhile 0.7% higher.
In single-stock moves, Switzerland's Huber+Suhner HUBN.S tumbled 10% after reporting misses in H1 EBIT and orders in its communications business, while Danish brewer Royal Unibrew RBREW.CO fell 7.5% after posting second quarter results below expectations.
