Street View: A billion-dollar bandage for Meta's legal woes
META•Analysts say legal overhang should ease
TD Cowen ("buy," PT: $750) says the agreement with state attorneys general should help remove a key legal overhang for Meta, but it does not expect the planned app changes to meaningfully affect user engagement or revenue.
Piper Sandler ("overweight," PT: $785) says the proposed changes for younger U.S. users are likely to have a limited impact on Meta's revenue, while removing the legal uncertainty surrounding the case would be a clear positive for the company.
Morningstar (fair value: $850) says the proposed settlement would remove a major legal overhang for Meta, with the potential liability appearing lower than previously reported estimates.
J.P. Morgan ("neutral," PT: $640) says, "we’re encouraged by the settlement, but also recognize that Meta is not quite out of the legal woods yet as headline risk around other cases & a couple other states remains".
