SunPower Subsidiary Completes 220.9 kW Solar Installation Delivering 349,000 kWh Annually
SPWR•SunPower’s Cobalt Power Systems and Wunder Power completed a 220.9 kW DC solar installation at San Francisco’s Waterfront Plaza using 554 high-efficiency modules and over 3,000 ballast blocks. The system will generate about 349,000 kWh annually and showcases Cobalt’s advanced urban engineering capabilities in dense commercial settings.
1. Waterfront Plaza Project Completion
Cobalt Power Systems, a SunPower subsidiary, and Wunder Power installed a 220.9 kW DC solar array on Waterfront Plaza in San Francisco, comprising 554 high-efficiency photovoltaic modules. The system is designed to produce approximately 349,000 kWh of clean electricity annually.
2. Complex Urban Engineering
Installation required custom-engineered anchor points to navigate post-tension concrete roof cables and over 3,000 ballast blocks for structural and seismic stability. The design overcame dense rooftop constraints while meeting stringent safety and regulatory requirements.
3. Strategic Commercial Growth
The project marks a key commercial milestone for Cobalt as it expands its portfolio of complex urban solar projects across California. Partnership with Wunder Power underscores collaborative efforts to accelerate SunPower’s advanced engineering capabilities in the commercial real estate sector.
