Supermicro Launches AMD Helios 72-GPU AI Rack and Arm AGI CPU Racks
AMD•Supermicro became an early partner to deploy AMD’s Helios platform, a 72-GPU rack system integrating AMD CPUs, GPUs and ROCm software for large-scale AI training and inference. It also introduced Arm AGI CPU racks promising 2x performance per rack and up to $10 billion CAPEX savings per gigawatt.
1. AMD and Supermicro Partnership
Supermicro became one of the first partners to adopt AMD’s Helios AI platform, integrating AMD CPUs, GPUs and open ROCm software in its rack-scale systems for high-throughput inference and frontier model training. This collaboration positions AMD for deeper penetration into large-scale AI infrastructure markets.
2. Helios Platform Capabilities
The 72-GPU double-width rack-scale system offers modular scalability from single racks to full clusters, advanced security measures and integrated virtualization with software acceleration. It unifies AMD’s CDNA GPUs, EPYC CPUs and high-speed networking under a single architecture to optimize compute density and performance.
3. Arm AGI CPU Rack Solutions
Supermicro also introduced Arm AGI CPU rack configurations designed for agentic AI workloads, delivering over twice the performance per rack compared with traditional architectures. With projected CAPEX savings of up to $10 billion per gigawatt of AI data center capacity, these solutions target cost-sensitive hyperscalers and cloud providers.
